loud house lori

The movie's end credits show Lori carrying Bobby, showing that they cleared the mix-up. In "Power Play with the Casagrandes", she gets angry when Bobby starts texting and calling her less to save electricity. Lori cries on Bobby's shoulder, believing that it's not possible to live in the city. Bobby comforts her saying that he didn't have the best of luck either since he ran into the backside of a police horse, but with time, she’ll be able to adjust to the city life and kissed her forehead.

However, she has always showed signs of liking him overall as a person, highted in "Change of Heart". In said episode, she has shown to be appreciative of his kindness and overall gentle being after realizing how she had taken advantage of him and given him the cold shoulder. From that episode onward, she saw him less as a nuisance and more as a close friend.

However, she still visits home once in a while, such as for Her Triple Date in Dairyland With Leni Bobby Galvin Luna And Sam in "Force of Habits", Lana and Lola's birthday party in "Strife of the Party" and Christmas in "Season's Cheatings". In the story, the mermaid was using a shard of a crystal needed to bring electricity to a kingdom to charge her cellphone. When the story's protagonists asked the mermaid to give up the shard, she refused because she required her cellphone to keep in touch with her boyfriend, a bear. Lisa's robot alter-ego then built a waterwheel for the mermaid to use instead, so the mermaid, who was revealed to be a helpful sort, gave up the crystal shard.

Carl

When not asserting her authority over her siblings, Lori frequently spends her time flirting with her boyfriend, Bobby Santiago, through texting on her smartphone. Outside of being with her siblings or taking her classes at Fairway University, Lori frequently spends her time flirting with her boyfriend, Bobby Santiago, through texting on her smartphone. Since then, she has appeared less frequently on the show and visiting home once in a while, such as for Lana and Lola's birthday party in "Strife of the Party" and Christmas in "Season's Cheatings". She also has episodes focusing on her at Fairway for the first time in "Ghosted!" which shows her without in the Loud House, due to her moving out to attend college and be close to Bobby again. Since in "Lori Days", she is now visiting home every weekend, due to her been away from the Loud House for so long and missing out on everything with her younger siblings. She has large blonde hair (a genetic trait she shares with her mother, even though Lori's hair is slightly longer).

Phone

Lori goes out of her way to make both of them jealous by spending an entire day with Clyde at the carnival, to which Bobby remains oblivious. When her scheme fails, Lori breaks down thinking she doesn't have a boyfriend anymore, which moves Lincoln to convince Bobby that they need to spend more time together again. Bobby and Lori immediately make up and Bobby tries to make equal time for both siblings. The High Card wears blue goggles, a very long white scarf with matching shirt and pants, light blue gloves and boots, and a necklace with a purple pendant.

Carol

She often talks to her boyfriend Bobby with it, but she also talks to other people from time to time, and uses her phone to send and receive text messages as well. In The Really Loud House, she wears a white top, light blue jacket, and light blue skirt; and she also has longer hair. In "Time Trap!", Lori and her siblings altered history, causing their parents to decide not to have any kids in the future.

In "Party Down", Becky attended Lori's sophisticated party and wasn't having fun until Lincoln entertained her with some of his party tricks, which she wanted to see more of. Later, Becky made an excuse saying her mother stubbed her toe and she needed to check on her so she could leave. Later, when she saw the photo of Lori having fun, she came back to the Loud House with an exorbitant amount of pizza. In "Save the Date", Clyde attempts to woo Lori while discussed as a waiter at the French-Mex restaurant when she and Bobby attempt to patch up their relationship, and tries to sabotage Bobby so he can get close to her.

Deep down, Lori is insecure and is usually frustrated with the responsibilities and burdens of having to take care of her nine wild sisters and only brother. It is also shown that while she gets annoyed and easily agitated by a lot of people, she feels lonely without the people she loves and cares about (such as Bobby and her family) and her worst fear is in fact, losing them forever. Lori is like your common firstborn daughter, being bossy, stubborn, and easily annoyed by her younger siblings. She happens to be in love with a young man named Bobby, so much, that she talks with him on her smartphone.

Bobby

As his crush on her began to fade away (particularly in "Ghosted!"), she began to see him for who he truely is and openly express how highly she thinks of him as a person. Lori has shown acknowledgement in his intelligence, with both that and his competence higher than Lincoln's in her eyes. Their relationship evolved further in this episode, as she began to see him as her own brother alongside Lincoln. In "A Fair to Remember", Lori refuses a date with Bobby when he buys tickets to a monster truck rally, and instead encourages Lincoln to go. When Bobby starts hanging out with Lincoln like a little brother, this annoys Lori and she feels she's become a "third wheel" on their dates.

(In reality, Lori and her siblings were only helping to change Lily and take out the trash). Her nightwear consists of a sky blue nightshirt and blue slippers; but, later, her current one contains a white tank top, and small blue and white shorts, with a checkered pattern.[35][36] Her swimsuit is a two-piece light blue bikini. In "Selfie Improvement", when Lori finds out that Carol's selfies are getting more likes than hers, she vowed to take a selfie that would get more likes than Carol's.

In A Loud House Christmas, her shorts are white and her shoes are white with blue polka dots. In "The Crying Dame", she came by Lori's house for a visit, but got very annoyed by Fenton's non-stop singing and left. Because most of Lori's time at the Casagrande residence was spent trying to convince Bobby to come back to Royal Woods, she didn't really develop much in the way of friendships, unlike Lincoln.

In the alternate universe in which Lincoln has ten brothers instead of ten sisters, Lori is a boy named Loki Loud. Unlike Lori, Loki is even more selfish, greedy and very bossy around the others. He's also mean and abrasive towards Lincoln and mocks him for Luke (Luna) using him to clean the toilet, Leon (Lily) for biting his thumb when he gets a "boo-boo," and teases him about Ronnie Anne. Loki is also more of a slob than Lori, bragging about his farts and not caring that the bathroom is messy.

Her original design depicted her with pink eyeshadow, a white tank top, navy blue shorts, and black shoes. Later it was changed to a light blue tank top (later revealed to be the top of her mother's old girdle[34]), brown cargo shorts, light blue slip-on shoes and light blue eyeshadow. She was 17 years old (teenager) in the first four seasons, and is now 18 years old (young adult) from season 5 onward. She used to occasionally be a jerk to Lincoln and her younger sisters, but this trait was gradually phased out in the second season onward. She is the former oldest sibling in the house, before the fifth season which she eventually moved out to college at Fairway University and visiting home once in a while. She doesn't like the others touching her possessions, especially her cell phone, which seems to be her most valuable object.

And when writing your Christmas card, it is important to keep in mind that make it personal. We’ve curated a few Christmas card messages to get you inspired.

Here are some Christmas card text ideas to get you started.

Articulating design decisions: Designers MUST master this important soft skill : Aufait UX

articulating design decisions

By contextualizing your design choices in this way, you can demonstrate the rationale behind your decisions. Starting with the "why" before delving into the "what" and "how" ensures that you begin from the base, which is the root problem. When you clearly articulate the problems that you are seeking to solve, you build context around why certain design decisions were taken. This helps clients understand the reasoning behind your choices and how it aligns with their business goals. It establishes trust and credibility and paves way for a successful partnership.

articulating design decisions

Chapter 4: Listen to understand

It was the democratization of design tools coupled with a free platform for sharing ideas. Almost overnight, the web designer had been transformed into a cacophony of acronyms that almost all boil down to creating the user experience. HISTORICALLY, DESIGNERS HAVE BEEN relegated to the business of making pretty pictures.

articulating design decisions

Visuals are key

So, it's key to use clear and concise language that is easy to understand and communicate ideas in a way that resonates with them. By doing so, you establish a shared understanding and foster a collaborative relationship. Discussing design decisions creates an open and collaborative environment, unlocking a wealth of insightful ideas. It allows designers to tap into a diverse range of perspectives that they may not have considered previously. A  culture of creativity and innovation is thus fostered, paving the way for unique solutions.

So, let’s jump right in by first going all the way back to the 1990s. Closely aligned with the growth of the web to serve products and experiences is a new business approach in which entire organizations arrange themselves to value design and make it a part of their core culture. As startups and big corporation CEOs are beginning to value design, we see an organizational model that makes it possible for businesses to really hone in on and make product design their primary strength.

Businesses Don’t Critique

As we look at how to talk about design to nondesigners, I want to first provide the context to help us understand how we got here in the first place. My own career has been littered with experiences (good and bad) of articulating design decisions to stakeholders. Those experiences shaped my understanding of design and helped me to see the importance of communication in the process. In addition, the term “UX” hasn’t been around that long.

When the web took over everything, organizations, large and small, were on a much more level playing field in terms of reaching their audience. Everyone wanted and needed a website, designers hurried to meet the need, learned basic skills, and began pumping out websites to meet demand. For the first time, the world of HCI and interface design that started in the tech companies of Silicon Valley was available to a much wider group of creators who had no idea what they were doing. To understand how designers fit into corporate culture, we need to understand the changing shift and attitudes toward design as something more than just an aesthetic.

Chapter 8: Lock in Agreement

Then there is (1) a list of tips for working with designers, (2) design project checklist, that might be useful. Tenth chapter is the most insightful chapter from all of them. Bikeshedding and Atwood’s Duck are few of many examples of great writing and giving valuable observations and knowledge.

Common terms and phrases

That’s a good shift, but even research can be biased, unintentionally flawed, or otherwise inconclusive. This adds complexity to the challenge of talking about design and UX. There is an entire ecosystem of custom-built applications with terrible interfaces that companies must support with an army of developers and training staff. Designers are now being asked to redesign these applications, work with the developers entrenched in legacy systems, and create a better product.

Design Feedback: How to give great design feedback, and how to receive it

The shortcoming of the critique in business is that it doesn’t always help us address the needs of the business with our design solutions. Even in schools that bring in volunteer “clients” or design imaginary products, the problems being solved have no real long-term effect. But, when the user experience of a company’s product is in question, millions of dollars in revenue could be on the line.

Thanks to Apple, everyone began expecting everything to be well-designed. Suddenly, the demand for designers who knew how to create great experiences exploded. As design-centric social media skyrocketed, too, designers were able to create just about any interface they could think of and share it with the world.

Whatever the reason, when someone is good at what they do, they have a hard time telling people why they did what they did. Because if you can’t get their support, your work will never see the light of day—no matter how good it is. Being mindful of the language you use when communicating your design decisions to clients and stakeholders is important. Often, they don't come from a design background, and using jargon and technical terms may confuse them.

We support our decisions with data and insights from competitive landscapes,  user personas, user journey maps, industry best practices, and research insights. For all the key decisions, we document and explain how it impacts the user experience and makes users’ journey easier. Confidence in your design decisions is key to building trust and credibility with clients. When communicating your design choices, it is important to articulate their reasoning and explain why you believe they are the best solution.

Articulating Design Decisions Book

articulating design decisions

If nothing else, it would be great to show someone my work and talk about design. I studied business for my undergraduate degree and quickly realized how powerful design was to bringing products to life. During college, every class project needed something designed. So, despite the fact that I wasn’t in the art department at my school, I had access to the tools (computers and software) for creating products and began my journey there, self-taught. “Articulating Design Decisions” by Tom Greever is a good read. The meat of this book is mainly focused on fundaments revolving around communication and design review meetings, sometimes missing chances where it could have gone deeper on the subject.

Chapter 7: Choose a Message

articulating design decisions

We might even set goals for the website or hire a salesperson to monitor and grow our “eBusiness,” but it was less about strong opinions and more about getting the job done. Designers make a lot of decisions based purely on intuition. In fact, our intuition is really good at solving design problems in an elegant and simple way. We’re wired to think visually, to organize elements logically for the user, and to pay careful attention to the details. I’m not exactly sure where these designers come up with definitions that sound like something straight out of a Jonathan Ive memoir. It’s the same culture that causes well-intentioned designers to create a “redesign” mockup of any popular website or app without any clue as to what that business’ needs are.

How do we articulate design decisions at Aufait UX?

The report for this project can be downloaded here (appendices). The coverage of historic wetland types has been added to the planning tools. If you don’t have enough time for entire book, you can read the ‘Key Thoughts’ I’ve crafted above, and entirely omit this one. Depending on the business, the website may have been born in the IT department. The engineering-types helped to build, support, and maintain it. Originally, the website was just a thing, but now the website has become the thing.

Chapter 6: Form a Response

It seemed like everyone needed a graphic or web designer, and so I did what I could to pay my way through college doing something I loved. One year, I worked part-time doing web design for a small record label. In my senior year, I was working full time at an electronic payment services company as the “Marketing Coordinator,” although most of my time was spent designing print ads and the company website. By the time I graduated, I had a decent portfolio of design work and was ready to take on the world. Anticipating the questions clients may ask and preparing answers to address their queries will help you explore your decisions further and articulate them better.

Like social media, our devices are intensely personal and are becoming more intimate. Our interface with the world is no longer the machine at arm’s length. It’s the touchable glossy display that we always have with us. Always on, always connected, always shaping the way we see our world. As a result, universal understanding of the importance of UX has grown, too. Every software update introduces new ideas and elicits strong opinions from every user.

However, relying solely on your intuition or personal preferences is not enough. To reinforce your claims, you should also draw on research, user testing, and other data-driven insights that support your decisions. By demonstrating confidence in your design choices and backing them up with evidence, you can establish a compelling case for your ideas and inspire confidence in your clients.

Most of us transitioned into user experience design, or as is more commonly known, UX, from other areas. But now that UX is everywhere, we are thrust into the limelight of product development with our own ideas forming a critical piece of the puzzle. We’re not used to having to explain ourselves to other people, especially nondesigners. Clear communication of design decisions is key to building trust with clients and ensuring team alignment toward a common goal. Here are some practical tips to effectively communicate design decisions and gain client buy-in.

You need to create an environment where everyone understands what you are doing, believes in your expertise, and supports your choice, so you can move on to the next thing. Definitely worth reading and exploiting in the future design endeavours. I’d love if all the chapters were equally digestible and rich in useful insight.

I failed to understand what she needed or to address her concerns. In that moment, I realized that my ability to talk to other people about design went far beyond my own ambitions. I had to take into consideration the needs of my audience. And if I couldn’t communicate that, I was bound to be wrong again. For me to be successful as a designer, I had to figure out how to communicate to my clients what my designs did.

It’s not necessarily about being original, but about being the best—and design is usually the great differentiator. So, even though it’s valuable and necessary for teams to push one another on their work, it’s not what will ultimately make a difference in the final decision for our project. It’s just family chatter, an internal conversation for an in-group of designer-types.

We didn’t need effective design, we needed documentation and training. If we can help users understand the system, then they will know how to use it. Our dynamic company starts each day with positivity and optimism and ends each day with the satisfaction that we are building quality products that not only we are proud of but our clients are also. Historic vegetation for the San Gabriel River was described in a joint project with the Southern California Coastal Water Research Project, CSUN, and the USC Center for Sustainable Cities.

For a lot of corporate history, design was just a utility. We used to only hire designers to make our stuff look more professional, to be sure the brand was consistent, or to communicate a creative idea. Now, we hire designers because there are difficult problems that must be solved in order for our products to be successful in the marketplace. Designers today are at the center of the product development cycle in a way that previously was not thought to be necessary. More people in the organization than ever before see the value in designing a great user experience.

In addition, there’s a small casino on the lower floor of an atrium, a sheltered games deck where you can play tennis, croquet or practice your golf swing, plus dedicated children and teen’s areas. If you fancy a bit of variety throughout your sailing, Lido Restaurant plates up an extensive buffet spread, with self-serve and pre-plated options available. Highlights include goat’s cheese croquettes, ‘angry’ prawn pasta, beef carpaccio and seared monkfish (the offer of some drizzled lemon for the fish impressively involves a spoon and two forks). Cunard refers to this as ‘White Star’ service, with the cruise line putting all crew through their paces at a namesake academy to ensure a level of consistency flows throughout.

While typically seating only 10, it was used primarily for lectures and private cocktail parties (and as overflow one evening when all the tables were taken at Commodore Club). In the hallways outside the lounge were handsome models of the Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria. The Commodore Club sprawled across the bow of the ship at Deck 11, creating an observation lounge that was ideal for watching the world go by, or the sun settling in for the night. Again at lunch the appetizers sparkled, including a chilled green apple and cucumber soup with lobster salpicon and blackberry sorbet.

These elegant, themed happenings offer a chance to meet your ship’s master and socialize with other guests. Musical performances, signature cocktails, and a portrait by a professional photographer make it a night to remember. It’s very different to other ships and cruise lines I’ve sailed on, with a strong sense of style and character – there’s no generic ‘international aesthetic’ here. It’s British through and through, with a foot in the past yet still ticking plenty of boxes for modern cruisers. It is worth noting however that all onboard payments are in US dollars. Given the exchange rate, cocktails and additional experiences (spa treatments, art classes and access to specialty dining) can end up rather pricey.

Cruising is a popular way of traveling for many people, offering a unique experience that combines the convenience of a floating hotel with the excitement of visiting multiple destinations in one trip. In an average year, over fifteen million people say "all aboard" and set sail on an amazing vacation. Find a Queen Elizabeth Cruise from $499

Cunard has not yet revealed the name of the ship’s godmother or godfather, but an announcement is expected very soon. Cunard’s new Queen Anne, set to enter service in early May 2024, was officially delivered to the line during a handover ceremony at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard, near Venice. The ship will join Cunard’s existing fleet, which includes Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth, and Queen Victoria.

High-end Retail, Cuisine Await Queen Anne Guests

The balcony measured about 54 square feet, which was sufficient for two chairs and a small table that we could use—just barely—for a simple meal. The front of our balcony was glass with a railing; some cabins had balconies with metal rather than glass fronting the space. We did not stay in the rest of these cabins, but we have summaries here provided by Cunard Line. Note that any photos on this page may be provided directly by the cruise line and not our reviewer. Hi, Cunard usual exemplary standard on our 18 night cruise Sydney-Tokyo.

A Transatlantic Crossing Is Not the Only Cunard Queen Mary 2 Itinerary Available

There’s also Aztec, which wasn’t offered on our cruise, but we hope to try in the future. The Mexican menu featured starters of guacamole and chips, tamales, chile relleno and tacquitos, with entrées ranging from chicken with pecan-prune mole, a port and chorizo skewer, crepes with shrimp, and beef tenderloin. We enjoyed the Barcardi Limon crème brûlée, a chocolate marquise, and a pavlova topped with fresh strawberries.

We did feel this time on Queen Elizabeth that on the grill outside decks service was rather lapse, definitely more so than normal. We have done too many cruises to count with Cunard and this cruise out of Auckland for eight days and disembarking in Sydney did not disappoint. The ship's "remastering" was an opportunity not just for improved functionality and aesthetics, but for Cunard to improve on these areas, too, and we feel they haven't been addressed.

Awash in polished woods, swooping curves and art deco angles, the restaurant should be a showcase for upscale cuisine in a soothing environment. The food, somewhat ambitious and with a French accent, was okay, but it could have been better. Queen Elizabeth’s internet center was located on Deck 1 and offered 21 Mac computers for checking email. While the equipment was good, we found access to be very clunky, with service not available for multi-hour periods. We didn’t find the attendant particularly knowledgeable about the service or the problems we had connecting; the venue was staffed two hours in the morning and 2½ hours in the afternoon on sea days, and 2 hours in the evening on port days.

Again, the costumes were snazzy, though no real sets were involved (for this or any of the shows we saw). Other live shows included a comedian, a pickpocket act, and a classical vocalist. Play Zone was designed for kids aged up to 6 years old, supervised by British registered nursery nurses and youth coordinators. There were Play Station 3 games, arts and crafts stations, toys, games and a private outdoor play area. This excellent library is among the finest at sea, with more than 6000 books covering a range of stories, styles and subjects, including a large collection of travel guides for the areas Queen Elizabeth commonly sails.

Most dining choices are included in your fare, but the gastro-pub options at The Golden Lion will incur an extra cost. The cuisine is inspired by the destinations visited on the itinerary, with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Cunard also offers a famous afternoon tea service, which is a nod to the line's British heritage. The Queen Mary 2 is Cunard's flagship and the only ocean liner in the world that regularly makes transatlantic crossings between New York and Southampton. It is a grand and stately ship that harks back to the golden age of ocean travel, with elegant public areas, formal dining rooms, and spacious cabins.

Courteous and knowledgeable, every member of Cunard’s crew is trained at the White Star Academy to deliver the highest level of warm and attentive service in an homage to the cruise line’s history as a joint venture with White Star Line. Room stewards greet their guests by name, and every request — no matter how big or small — is met with ease. An established leader in ocean travel around Europe, Cunard is entering a new era with the debut of its latest Queen. The gorgeous beaches, year-round warm weather, and rich culture of the Caribbean islands have long beckoned travelers seeking a little (or big) slice of paradise. From the hidden gems of Dominica and the rolling waves of Barbados to the charming architecture of St. Kitts, Cunard guests will discover the full appeal of this region.

Sometimes combined with New York-to-Southampton crossings, 7-night Mediterranean itineraries offer an overview of the region with ports of call in Spain and Italy, including Sardinia. The average age of passengers who sail on Queen Victoria tends to be from late 40s upwards. On roundtrip cruises from Southampton, passengers are mainly British, while voyages departing from other ports - - while still heavy on Brits - - attract Americans and Australians with a good smattering of Europeans and Asians. Those who travel on Queen Victoria are generally well-heeled people and most are regular cruisers. Many dyed-in-the-wool Cunarders wouldn't dream of sailing with anyone else. Everywhere you turn there is a treat for the eyes, from the glittering chandeliers and white gloved waiters serving scones at afternoon tea to elegant restaurants and deep, rich carpets.

Cunard Line Officially Takes Delivery of New Queen Anne

cunard cruise line reviews

The compact bathroom for our cabin was interchangeable with bathrooms for most other mainstream cruise lines—that is, there was nothing special about it. The small shower (only) measured 30 inches wide and 27 inches deep, at its maximum, with a thin synthetic curtain that could be pulled around—not exactly a generous cubicle for showering. Towels were inconsistently replaced by our cabin steward, even when they were hung up to dry; two pools towels were left for us under the sink. The inclusion of Gilchrist & Soames amenities—shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion—and a jar of cotton swabs were the only “extras” beyond what we usually find in typical cruise ship bathrooms. In all, we were disappointed that the bathroom was no better than ordinary. Acquired by Miami-based Carnival Corporation in 1998, the Cunard Line got a new lease on life with the arrival of the one-of-a-kind Queen Mary 2, in 2004—at the time the largest, tallest and most expensive ever built.

In-Room Dining Overview

Why we are so bitter about our 47 day cruise my husband was confined to his cabin for 16 days with Gastroenteritis / Neuro Virus along with over 250 guests at any given time. More should have been done to stop this rather than allowing it to escalate. Even our cabin boy, had no idea or experience of what to do, even didn’t understand our English language, we certainly couldn’t understand him. Although most people may immediately think of relaxing transatlantic voyages when imagining a trip on QM2, Cunard’s flagship vessel offers a wide range of itineraries.

Another great voyage - enjoyed every minute of every day.

Our transatlantic crossing sailed at capacity, yet the ship felt as spacious as ever. The biggest change was in the Kings Court buffet, which features a completely fresh design. The redesign transformed the space from a chaotic feeding frenzy into a calm space for daily grazing. The area could still benefit from more tables; we spotted some passengers taking their plates to Carinthia Lounge at busy times. The prospect of traveling onboard Cunard Queen Mary 2, the world's only ocean liner, is thrilling -- now more than ever -- following the ship's £90-million transformation in 2016.

Night Transatlantic CruiseDetails

I’d attribute this to venues and activities being spaced throughout the ship, rather than concentrated to only a few areas, like on some rivals. Guests checked into Queens Grill staterooms enjoy benefits such as butler service, Champagne and chocolates on arrival and, where I’ve just finished a light three-course lunch, access to an exclusive restaurant. From afternoon tea to croquet and West End-style theatre, this is a ship where British traditions are alive and well.

Travel Visa Services

However, while all of this may sound very posh, this ship is not just the preserve of the wealthy. During the day you can relax and unwind in the Royal Spa while at night there are live theatre shows, music and dancing in the bars and lounges. The ship has enough classy, small to midsize public rooms and various nooks and crannies for guests to relax, read or enjoy a drink and a chat. Cunard draws a lot of loyal cruisers, but a more specific breakdown of who sails on Queen Elizabeth depends on where the ship is going. Typically, expect a mix of Brits and Americans with groups of German, Australian and Japanese passengers, as well. Transatlantic and more exotic sailings draw an older demographic, while Alaska attracts a few families and a healthy number of first-time cruisers.

A toasted York ham and English cheddar cheese panini was a okay—it sounded better than it tasted; the sandwich was warm but the fries were barely lukewarm; a limp spinach salad came alongside. But the chicken Thai curry (also available with shrimp) was great—a mound of jasmine rice surrounded with a flavorful green curry; the dish packed a lot of heat (more than some might like) but it hit the spot for us. For dessert we had the chocolate fudge cake and it was about as expected, satisfying if unexceptional.

One of the ship's signature features is the stunning three-tier Grand Lobby with its unique artwork, sweeping staircase and sculpted balconies. With a dramatic triple-height ceiling, the -lobby serves as a majestic focal point and is the center of onboard activity. A bronzed-effect sculptural representation of the cruise ship emerging from a sun motif coordinated with a marquetry relief depicting a map of the world graces the staircase landing and is visible from nearly every part of the Grand Lobby. Cunard cashes in on its impressive heritage, sense of occasion and somewhat old-fashioned pursuits including ballroom dancing and bridge.

A coffee card was also available—10 regular coffees for $33.50, plus 15 percent service charge. Signage stated that the card availed a 10 percent savings, but that savings applied only to drinks priced $3.75; most of the coffee options were priced less, making the card of negligible value. Passengers wishing to dress more informally in the evening are recommended to dine in the Kings Court buffet and use the Carinthia Lounge. Queen Victoria is almost a replica of her bigger sister Queen Elizabeth, at least as far as layout, cabins and enrichment programs go. “This beautiful and iconic ship testifies to the longstanding partnership between our two companies, underscoring our shared commitment to excellence and tradition in the maritime industry,” Folgiero added. This is a ship where passengers appreciate formality; even informal nights require jackets and dresses. If dressing up isn't your thing, it's not the ship for you, unless you are OK being restricted to the buffet at night. If the onboard aura and sentimental pursuits call up the past, so, too does Cunard's cabin category system in which the cabin you're staying in dictates lounge and dining room access. While this might add to the exclusivity of the ship, it isn't exactly a luxury experience. Each ship offers a range of restaurants, from traditional formal dining rooms to more casual eateries.

“Next Step” worshops were $30 and included 60-minute sessions on Apple’s iPhoto (managing and editing images, creating books, calendars and slideshows), Adobe Photoshop Elements (basic repairs, effects, using layers), Apple’s iMovie. There was an advanced seminar called Using your iPad Efficiently, priced $10. All but one of the classes was offered only once, so it’s a good idea to check the schedule at the start of your cruise. There was an excellent range of activities onboard Queen Elizabeth, many of them not found on mainstream cruise lines.

The vast majority of crewmembers were Asian or Eastern European—nationalities we find warm and engaging on other cruise lines. Sometimes it felt like Cunard’s training program encouraged prim, stiff-upper-lip formality at the expense of genuine warmth. We encountered multiple instances when Queen Elizabeth was either understaffed, the staff was clunky or poorly trained, or—on a couple occasions—cold to the point of condescending.

Cunard operates three ocean liners, the Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, and Queen Elizabeth, which offer a wide range of itineraries around the world. After 7 cruises (or 70 nights) members are elevated to Platinum status, which adds an additional two hours of complimentary internet, a 20 percent discount on laundry and dry cleaning, and a complimentary wine tasting and Senior Officers’ Party. With 15 voyages (or 150 nights) comes Diamond status, with further benefits. More than perhaps any other cruise line we’ve traveled with, Cunard believes in a dress code, and Queen Elizabeth is a dressy ship. While it’s not necessary to invest in a wardrobe overhaul to embark, many passengers use a Cunard cruise as an opportunity to show off their fanciest finery. The rules sound imposing, but after a day or two we felt very much at home.

Even so, we’d highly recommend dressing up somewhat if you plan on eating in a dining room or a nicer specialty restaurant. Not only will you feel more comfortable around others who are dressed up, but it also adds to the atmosphere of formal night for others. Still, the dress code for dinner depends on the dining option you choose while onboard.

By taking these factors into consideration, you’ll be able to choose the perfect dinner attire that fits the occasion and your personal preferences. In the dining rooms, items such as shorts, pool wear and baseball caps are not permitted; shoes must be worn at all times. Jeans are permitted as long as they aren't fraying and don't have holes. In addition, passengers who would like to participate in theme nights are encouraged (but not required) to dress according to a specific theme.

However, following the general rule of thumb, you can quickly determine when. In this post, I’ll answer some questions you may have about formal nights on a cruise and how they work. Plus, I’ll share some  recommendations for cruise formal wear to make it easy.

Paul Gauguin Cruises Dress Code: A Bit Dressier, But Be Ready for Polynesian Night

One of the most exciting aspects of a Carnival cruise is the variety of themed nights that add a touch of fun and liveliness to your dining experience. These theme nights allow guests to dress up according to a specific theme and immerse themselves in the festivities. As on other lines, you may find that the official dress code may be lightly enforced on some ships, often in relation to destination and even size of the ship. The larger the ship, the more casual options there are throughout the evening. On the relatively smaller ships like Serenade of the Seas or even Adventure of the Seas, the dress code is a bit more easy-to-spot as there's less room for everyone to spread out.

In today’s guide, we will discuss all these to help you enjoy a sophisticated evening at sea. While many cruise lines offer complimentary shampoo and conditioner in stateroom bathrooms, they aren’t likely to be the products you use at home. I always bring my own shampoo, conditioner and of course, my hair care products.

The rule of thumb is that a week-long cruise will have two formal nights during the trip (i.e. Day 2 and Day 5). Perhaps the biggest question around formal night on a cruise is what to wear. No, you don’t have to go out and get a tuxedo or a formal evening gown unless you want to. The Carnival dress code - what to wear on Carnival cruise, "dress code for dinner" review. What are the Carnival Dining Room dress code requirements - what to wear, where to wear it, and probably why. When considering the specifics of the Carnival dress code keep in mind, that one classy evening with all of you dressed up won't hurt anyone.

One of its notable highlights is the Elegant Nights, where guests can enjoy an evening of luxury and glamour. Avoid having to go back to your stateroom to change between pool and restaurant by bringing along cover-ups like sundresses or shorts and T-shirts. I stress above that this is the guidance that normally constitutes cruise formal wear. If you think you look great, and it doesn’t come across as a slap in the face to the restaurant staff and those round about you, then go for it.
